The global artificial intelligence (AI) market is predicted to grow twenty-fold by 2030, with AI quickly becoming a significant component in the technology landscape.  While AI has shown impressive progress, its limitations are evident, with AI incidents and controversies rising twenty-six-fold since 2012.  AI’s potential can only be realized through human intervention.


Today, artificial intelligence struggles with narrowing research focus, setting exploration prompts, exerting judgment, determining essential data, manifesting its design, and explaining conclusions.  Furthermore, AI lacks human soft skills like creativity, empathy, and teamwork.  Although AI applications like ChatGPT can pass the Turing Test, none have passed the Lovelace Test.


Leaders in technology, such as OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman, envision AI as humanity’s co-pilot, emphasizing that humans make AI, for humans, and impacts human lives and society.  AI needs human guidance to expand its capabilities and achieve artificial general intelligence.  One example of successful human-AI collaboration is Google’s 2009 ReCAPTCHA project, which digitized its book archive with human assistance, overcoming OCR technology’s limitations.  This accomplishment demonstrates the power of combining AI and human intelligence to achieve monumental tasks quickly.


In conclusion, unlocking AI’s potential requires human involvement.  Those who can create human-centric commands and interactions hold the key to the future of artificial intelligence, fostering a synergistic relationship between humans and machines.
