The AR/VR B2C industry is expected to make more than $31 billion before the end of this year with a 67% growth rate in just the next four years! This is due to the increasing use of computer-generated reality created by spatial computing in our lives, such as virtual reality and augmented reality. In fact, many experts believe that at least 1.4 billion devices around the world will be able to use AR by 2024.
Thanks to spatial computing, the ways we work, play, and learn are going through a significant change. We are able to efficiently design, build, and finalize projects all at work while also cooperate on documents as a team remotely. Games are now playable in the metaverse and fashion pieces with unique additions can be experienced virtually. Education is now more interactive than ever and healthcare can be further customized to patients’ unique needs.
There is a lot of potential for spatial computing to have a greater impact on our lives, so what’s next? With the increase in near-to-eye displays, there will be less need to use smartphones for functions outside of phone calls. Specifically, AR glasses provide a better field of view, improved battery efficiency, and higher brightness compared to our smartphones. Spatial computing will continue to advance, and this means our daily interactions will always be evolving.
