The process of writing down and documenting thought can be a tedious one. If the thought is fully formed, writing it down is convenient. If the thought is still forming, writing it down can be a waste of time if it’s changed later. There are lots of ways to document thoughts today. Paper and pencil, typing, voice transcription, all of these methods have their ups and downs.
However AI is introducing a new way of engaging in this process entirely. It’s a method which works well regardless of if the idea is fully formed or still in progress. The method has been introduced by applications like Storied, and is expanding out from there. This method is AI processed vocal transcription.
What this essentially means is that AI can now listen to someone talk about a concept and expand on it. In the case of Storied, the user will talk about an idea and the AI will ask questions. These can be questions of clarification, questions to expand on the concept, or general conversational questions. Using the user’s initial speech and their answers to these questions, the AI will start to build a document with its content creator tools.
In practice this creates a word document or even social media post which is the user’s thought, but AI’s words. It’s a tool of practicality. People spend hours everyday working on emails and composing their thoughts. The problem isn’t that the ideas aren’t formed, the problem is getting the ideas across properly. AI offers a solution to this time sink. It’s new, and these programs are still being developed, but the utility is undeniable. Now it’s just a matter of seeing how fast this form of AI becomes popular and practical.
